Q. Tell us about your project? What is the scope of work and what are some of the challenges you face?<\/strong><\/p>

A. This \u00a3199 million contract is for the construction of Phase Two of the Lewisham Gateway regeneration scheme on behalf of Lewisham Gateway Developments, a subsidiary of Muse Developments. Located adjacent to Lewisham\u2019s DLR station, Lewisham Gateway represents one of the largest transformational regeneration schemes in South East London.<\/p>

The contract involves the construction of four mixed-use buildings, including 530 homes for rent, 119 co-living units, a cinema and gym, office facilities, as well as retail and restaurant areas. The development is also creating dedicated \u2018green spaces\u2019 for the community to enjoy.<\/p>

As part of our company wide integrated delivery strategy, our colleagues in Balfour Beatty Kilpatrick are delivering the infrastructure\u2019s mechanical and electrical (M&E) works, while Balfour Beatty Ground Engineering carried out the piling works.<\/p>

Balfour Beatty\u2019s Mobilisation Hub was responsible for Site Set-up \/ Logistics Strategy while our Plant and Fleet division provided the four tower cranes. Following a pre-construction services agreement which completed in December 2019, full works began in July 2020 with completion expected in Autumn 2023.<\/p> <\/div>\n <\/div>\n \t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Q. Which MSite products are you using to capture data?<\/strong><\/p>

A: We use a turnstile entry system to monitor all people coming in and out of site.<\/p>

Q. How are you using this data, and how does MSite support you with this?<\/strong><\/p>

A. We are using this data for a number of different applications commercially and operationally including, 1. Raw data to feed into the project's Earned Value Analysis exercise. 2. Ongoing site checks of labour on site against the planned histogram from the supply chain. 3. Checking and ensuring hours of attendance for various trades' productive labour teams. 4. Accurate site records of specific individuals' attendance on site to assist with valuation of cost.<\/p>

Q. What benefits are you getting from analysing this data? Does it bring any efficiencies?<\/strong><\/p>

A. The benefits are having the raw data easily accessible on a live basis so that the team has the information readily available to inform commercial discussions and live operational decisions. It allows the team to accurately measure productive labour on site and make decisions with the supply chain around required labour to complete the planned activities.<\/p>

It also provides efficiencies for the commercial team in quickly and easily providing a source of factual records on operatives' attendance that is used to inform discussions around progress and cost.<\/p> <\/div>\n <\/div>\n \t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

A. At Lewisham we have worked collaboratively with MSite to refine the reports that are output by the systems into a data set that meets our specific project needs and streamlines the data required for our monthly reporting.
