Five ways a digital visitor management system improves on-site safety

The construction industry is made up of far more than those on-site day in, day out. Experts across supply chain management, health and safety, ESG and countless other departments keep the cogs turning behind the scenes, however it is not uncommon for them to pay a visit to site – often joined by clients too.

The awareness of the comings and goings of both scheduled and walk-up visitors has long been difficult to monitor and relied on inefficient processes – but this is where our Visitor Management solution comes into play. By putting a robust process in place on all sites, down to their on-site permissions, we can make sites safer for all.

Here are five ways the system improves on-site safety:

  1. Applicable to every visitor

Whether a planned or unplanned visit, our new Visitor Management system can easily capture key details, confirm inductions and flag incomplete compliance steps.

When pre-visit setup is possible, visitors will arrive at site having already pre-registered to the MSite system. This process, similarly to regular users, includes basic data capture, induction steps and a pre-visit questionnaire. In instances when this isn’t possible before arrival, the Supervisor App can be used to complete the registration process.

  1. Customisable data capture

By creating a visitor profile, the system can then collect essential information about each visitor. Tailored to meet site specific needs – whether this be site security, compliance or ESG – our system allows for input of details such as car registration, reason for visit and much more.

Sites of different shapes and sizes come with different requirements but this can be customised on a site-to-site basis so you only get the information you need.

  1. Integrated access control

Using our portfolio of site access solutions, visitors can use facial recognition technology – such as the Face Mini – or visitor cards to gain access through a turnstile. This puts all access data under one roof, ensuring robust security without the hassle of juggling multiple different systems.

As with everyday users of the MSite system, this allows for awareness of exactly who is on site and when.

  1. Real-time roll call

Once a visitor is signed in, they will be added to a real time roll-call and assigned temporary site access, including any visitor specific permissions. Once on-site activity is completed, the visitor then signs out, triggering our system to automatically update attendance and roll-call records.

These real-time updates allow site managers full visibility of accurate headcount in the event of emergency or audit on site.

  1. A future proof solution

No matter the size of your site, how many workers are coming and going, and how often you have either planned or unplanned visits, our Visitor Management solution scales to meet your needs. Not only does this streamline front-of-house operations but also ensures a safer and more efficient site experience for all.
